Give roles for levels and activity
A perk gives members a Discord role, and anything else you add to it, when they meet its condition: a level, a top place on the leaderboard, a statistic such as messages or voice time, XP earned, invites, or days in the server. Every perk is one row under Rewards › Perks: press it to edit it beside the list, or press New perk to add one. Perks need Manager or Admin access and levelling on.
Each perk reads as a sentence: When the condition, Then what it gives. A server holds 8 perks on Free, 20 on Pro and any number on Titan, and each role is given by one perk only.
Give a role at a level
- Press New perk.
- Under When, press Pick a condition, choose Has, then level, and type the level. On Pro, choose prestige instead to give a role for a prestige, or limit a level perk to one prestige.
- Under Then, type the new role's name, or press a new role to pick one the server already has.
- Press Save, check who gains or loses the role, and confirm.
Already giving roles for levels by hand? Press Import existing roles, pick the roles, press Next and confirm the level Colossus suggests for each.
Once Pulse has measured a level perk, a finding says whether members just past the level are more active than those just short of it.
Give a role for activity, a top place or time in the server
Press New perk, then under When pick how the condition starts:
- Ranks in the top: a place in the top of the leaderboard, by XP or a statistic.
- Earns: at least so much XP.
- Has, then a statistic such as messages, minutes in voice or minutes in a game.
- Has, then invites: members brought in who are still here.
- In the server for: days since the member last joined.
Top places, XP and statistics count over the last so many days, up to how long the server keeps its data, or of all time. For a statistic, How long chooses whether the role stays only while the condition holds or for good, which makes it an achievement. Then add the role under Then and press Save.
Require more than one condition
Under When, Add condition adds another condition a member must also meet, such as a level and 30 days in the server. Free allows one condition per perk, Pro 3 and Titan 5.
Choose the role a perk gives
Colossus manages every perk role: it makes a new one, or takes over the one you pick, and keeps it as the perk says. Under Then, the role's sentence sets its name, colour or style, icon, and whether it is listed separately in the member list. Beneath it:
- Permissions
The member permissions the role grants.
- Channels
The channels the role can see or post in.
Add action adds more to the perk:
- Personal roles
On Pro, holders design a role of their own; see Give a personal role.
- Card editing
On Pro, holders change parts of their rank card; see Let members design their own card.
- Level-up image
On Titan, a level or prestige perk posts its own level-up card.
- Carry a perk
This perk also passes on another perk's permissions and channel access, below.
Levelling never hands out moderation or server-wide permissions. Picking a role that grants them needs every team permission, and Colossus removes them from it.
Keep lower levels' access at higher levels
A level perk's permissions and channel access reach higher levels only if the higher perk carries it. Open the higher level's perk and, under Then, press Add action › Carry a perk and pick the level below.
Whether members keep every level role they reach is set under Place new roles below › Stacking: Highest only takes the previous level role away, Stack keeps them all. Highest only is the default.
Choose where new roles go
Press Place new roles below and, under Roles, pick the role new perk roles go right under: Colossus's own role unless you change it. It applies to every perk. Personal roles pick theirs under Personal roles in the same menu.
A role above Colossus's own can't hold new roles under it: move Colossus's role up in Server Settings › Roles first.
When a perk role is changed in Discord
Colossus doesn't undo changes made to its roles in Discord. The perk's row says Changed in Discord, and What needs you in the top bar asks your team to choose: Use Discord's keeps the change, Put Colossus's back sets the role back to what the perk says.
Remove a perk
Press Remove on the perk's row, then Save. The save asks whether to take the role off everyone or leave it on them; a role Colossus made can also be deleted from Discord.
If it doesn't work
- A role isn't given. It sits above the Colossus role. The perk's row says so; drag the Colossus role up in Server Settings › Roles.
- New perk is locked. The server holds as many perks as the plan allows.
- Perks for supporters or boosters. See Give perks to supporters and boosters.
